Tajik president praises Uzbekistan's achievements in socio-economic development

DUSHANBE. July 24 (Interfax) - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon had a talk with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday, the Tajik president's press service said.

At the beginning of the talk, Rahmon wished a happy birthday, wishing him good health and further successes in his state work.

Uzbekistan's achievements in socio-economic development and subsequent strengthening of its international authority were praised during the conversation, the statement said.

The sides discussed vital issues concerning Tajik-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance. Rahmon confirmed Dushanbe's commitment to further development of bilateral relations in the spirit of traditional friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual support.

The presidents also considered the schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts and meetings on the sidelines of international and regional events.

Besides, the presidents exchanged opinions on other issues that are of mutual interest.
