VK, MAX apps disappear from Google Play

MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - The applications of the Russian technology holding VK and the national messenger MAX have disappeared from the Google Play app store, VK said.

Previously installed services and applications are operating normally without restrictions, the company said. Users with Android devices will continue to receive push notifications about messages, events and calls in the MAX and VK apps.

The company noted that the VK and MAX apps are available for installation in RuStore, Huawei AppGallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi (SPB: 1810) GetApps and other app stores for Android. Application updates are also working normally through the "update" option displayed in service notifications about new versions or via the above-mentioned stores.

VK also said that all of its services were working as usual. "All of the VK holding's applications, including MAX, VKontakte, Odnoklassiniki, Dzen, VK Video, VK Music, Mail services and others are working as usual, without restrictions," the holding's press service told Interfax.

Apple removed VK apps from the App Store at the end of June.

Earlier this week, the European Union included VK and MAX in its sanctions lists.
