MOSCOW. July 16 (Interfax) - Rosatom plans to begin laying the foundation in 2026 for pouring the first concrete for reactor units at the Primorye, Beloyarsk and Smolensk nuclear power plants (NPPs) in 2027, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said at the Director's Day event for employees of the company's central office.
"We have preliminarily selected a site in Primorye, and we will be building VVER-1000 reactors. We are currently conducting surveys, preparing the safety justification and preparing a plot of land for construction," Likhachev is quoted as saying by corporate publication Strana Rosatom.
"At the Kola NPP, we are extending the existing units and preparing to build new ones. We will build four 600-MW units there," he said.
He said the company had construction projects for 18 reactor units in various stages of implementation at nine sites.
