Turkmenistan, Germany committed to strengthening trade-economic ties - Turkmen Foreign Ministry

ASHGABAT. July 15 (Interfax) - Prospects for deepening Turkmen-German trade-economic ties were discussed in Ashgabat in a meeting between Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Myakhri Byashimova and Michael Harms, executive director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said on its website on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the sides noted a high level of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Germany. The sides gave special attention to deepening trade-economic ties, the ministry said.

The prospects for introducing advanced German technologies in the modernization of Turkmenistan's industrial sector were addressed in this context.

The possibilities for cooperation in the sphere of traditional energy, introduction of renewable energy resources and rational use of water resources were also considered.

The sides noted the high potential of Turkmenistan as a key logistical hub, and interest in joint infrastructure development projects was expressed.

The sides also discussed ways to strengthen interaction with German financial institutions to support joint investment projects.

In closing, mutual commitment to further expand dialogue was reaffirmed, the ministry said.
