Kazakhstan ratifies EAEU-UAE economic partnership agreement

ASTANA. July 9 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a bill into law ratifying the economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member states, and the United Arab Emirates, the Kazakh official media said on Thursday.

The agreement, signed in Minsk on June 27, 2025, aims to develop and strengthen trade between EAEU members and the UAE and to create favorable conditions for the promotion of Kazakh goods at the UAE market.

The agreement lifts import duties on over 85% of commodities on both sides. Duties will be lifted in a phased manner, during transitional periods, for the sake of gradual trade liberalization.

The UAE has given preferences for 6,757 commodity items, including 6,565 by setting zero import customs duties and 192 by establishing tariff quotas for duty-free imports from EAEU member states.
