Tajikistan-S. Korea trade reaches $196.1 mln in 2025 - speaker
DUSHANBE. July 8 (Interfax) - Speaker of the Tajik parliament's lower house Faizali Idizoda has declared the parliament's readiness to foster Tajik-South Korean cooperation at a meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Tajikistan Jeon Sung Sik, the house press service said in a statement.
Bilateral trade reached $196.1 million in 2025, as a demonstration of the growing interest of business communities in both countries in developing economic partnership, Idizoda said.
A fuller use of the existing potential is necessary for expanding mutually advantageous trade and economic cooperation, he said.
The diplomatic relations established by Tajikistan and South Korea in 1992 have been progressively developing over more than three decades, the sides said at the meeting. South Korea remains a major, reliable partner of Tajikistan in the Asia Pacific region.
Bilateral cooperation has been advancing in the political, parliamentary, trade, economic, investment, humanitarian and cultural fields, the sides said. The implementation of joint projects in industry, energy, transport, education, digital technologies, personnel training and human capital development has intensified in recent years.
Idizoda underlined the significance of inter-parliamentary diplomacy for strengthening bilateral relations and developing international cooperation.
He also said that Tajik parliament members were ready to foster bilateral economic relations, carry out the activity of parliament friendship groups, and participate in the Conference of Parliament Speakers of Central Asia and South Korea.
