Uzbek president, Jordanian FM discuss joint projects, programs in different areas

TASHKENT. July 7 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Hussein Safadi have discussed the two countries' political dialogue and joint projects and programs focusing on trade, the economy, investment, culture, and humanitarian affairs, Mirziyoyev's press service said in a statement.

"Current issues concerning the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Jordan were discussed at the meeting," the statement said.

Emphasis was placed on deepening the countries' political dialogue and promoting their joint projects and programs in trade, the economy, investment, culture, and humanitarian affairs, it said.

Safadi said at the start of the meeting that King of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein sends his best wishes to Mirziyoyev.

The top-level talks held in Samarkand last year opened a new page in the history of Uzbek-Jordanian relations, Mirziyoyev said.

The king of Jordan paid a state visit to Uzbekistan in August 2025.

Parliamentary friendship groups have been set up, the joint intergovernmental commission has held its first meeting, a business council has been established and direct flights have been launched this year in accordance with the agreements reached during that visit, the statement said.

Safadi held talks with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on Monday. The sides discussed the schedule of upcoming bilateral events, including visits at the top and high levels. They also noted the intensification of the two countries' political dialogue and exchanges and agreed that it is important to further strengthen coordination between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Jordan.
