Russia expected to increase manufacturing around 1% in 2026 - Mishustin

YEKATERINBURG. July 6 (Interfax) - The growth of Russia's manufacturing industry slowed down in 2026, partly under pressure from macroeconomic factors, but it will remain positive for the year overall, amounting to around 1%, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in a speech at a plenary session at Innoprom 2026.

"The trend of incremental upwards movement in the manufacturing sector remains, and it is forecast at around plus 1% for the year overall," Mishustin said.

He said that manufacturing in Russia had grown almost 23% over the last three years "despite resistance from unfriendly states".

"The macroeconomic situation is certainly having its effect. The rate of growth in production has decreased somewhat," Mishustin said.

He said that the machine building industry, which grew around 8% in the first five months of 2026, continued to make a positive contribution to the growth of manufacturing.

According to the official forecast published by the Russian Economy Development Ministry in May, Russia's manufacturing industry should grow 1% in 2026, 2.8% in 2027, 3.1% in 2028 and 3.7% in 2029. It grew 3.6% in 2025.
