EAEU delays technical regulation on alcoholic beverages until Jan 1, 2027
MOSCOW. July 3 (Interfax) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has delayed the introduction of a technical regulation on alcoholic beverages until January 1, 2027, according to a Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council decision.
The unified technical regulations on alcohol were initially expected to go into effect in the EAEU on July 1, 2026.
The EEC did not comment on the delay.
The EEC Council approved the EAEU Technical Regulation on the Safety of Alcoholic Products on December 5, 2018. Its enactment has been repeatedly postponed for amendments and adjustment. It establishes requirements in EAEU countries for alcohol produced and the processes for its production, storage, transportation, sale and disposal, as well as requirements for labeling, packaging and conformity assessment.
