Georgia, Uzbekistan sign strategic partnership agreement
TBILISI. July 3 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an agreement on strategic partnership between the two countries on Friday, the Georgian government press service reported.
Kobakhidze said at the signing ceremony that the agreement would help bring relations between the two countries to a new level.
"The agreement provides for cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural fields, which facilitates broader integration," Kobakhidze said.
Mirziyoyev described the bringing of Uzbek-Georgian bilateral relations to a level of strategic partnership as a major achievement for both sides.
"Georgia is an important partner to rely on in the South Caucasus," Mirziyoyev said.
During the Uzbek delegation's visit to Tbilisi, the parties also signed a number of intergovernmental documents on cooperation in the trade, economic, financial, agricultural, and other areas.
