Bashkir Soda Company sees marketable output fall 6% in 2025 amid falling exports, downtime at Kaustik
UFA. July 2 (Interfax) - JSC Bashkir Soda Company (BSC) saw its production of marketable products (at current prices) fall 6% in 2025 compared to the previous year, to 56.48 billion rubles, BSC said.
Production capacity utilization amounted to 83.3%, compared to 92.9% in 2024.
Production dynamics were affected by a decline in output of soda ash and sodium bicarbonate due to a reduction in export shipments to countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) because of low margins. Also among the reasons was the extension of shutdown capital repairs at the Kaustik production facility due to an accident in August 2025.
It was reported that on August 9 last year, a gas-air mixture ignited at the Kaustik production site due to the depressurization of a welded joint in a unit at the vinyl chloride-polyvinyl chloride complex during preparations for scheduled major maintenance. As a result, 41 people were injured, including some who suffered poisoning from polyvinyl chloride vapors and others who sustained burns to the mucous membranes of the eyes. Thirty-two people were hospitalized, one of whom later died in the hospital.
The enterprise received 3.9 billion rubles of net profit to Russian Accounting Standards (RAS) in 2025, down 15.1% from the previous year.
At the same time, growth in average monthly wages compared to the previous year amounted to 19%, the company said. There are no overdue wage arrears.
Bashkir Soda Company is Russia's largest producer of soda ash and baking soda, and a leading domestic manufacturer of PVC. It is also among the top three largest producers of caustic soda, and is one of the leaders in the production of cable compounds. It is part of the RusChem group of companies.
