Amazon, G42 begin taking up places in Kazakhstan's planned Data Center Valley - Tokayev

ASTANA. July 2 (Interfax) - Global technology giants in the IT sector, including Amazon.com Inc. and G42, have shown interest in the Data Center Valley project in Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"We plan to build a Data Center Valley as the cornerstone of our digital economy. This flagship project is already serving as a powerful magnet for global capital and technology giants. Industry leaders such as Amazon, G42, and many others have already begun taking their places in this ecosystem," Tokayev said while speaking at the plenary session of the Foreign Investors' Council in Astana on Thursday.

As reported, the Data Center Valley project is being implemented in Ekibastuz. It envisages the creation of the largest data center campus in Central Asia with power capacity of up to 1 GW. Land plots with a total area of 1,400 hectares have been allocated for the project.

Kazakhstan is developing the Data Center Valley project jointly with the U.S. company Firebird, whose key partner is Nvidia. The potential value of agreements under the project is estimated at $10 billion.

The project is expected to generate at least $3 billion in annual export revenue, create new jobs, attract global technology companies, and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as one of the key digital hubs in Eurasia.
