Central Bank lowers estimate of Russia's external debt as of April 1 to $299.1 bln from $308.8 bln
MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - The estimate of Russia's total external debt as of April 1, 2026, has been lowered to $299.1 billion from $308.8 billion, according to data on the Central Bank's website.
The debt estimate for the beginning of 2026 has been revised down, to $306.8 billion from $319.3 billion.
According to the updated estimate, debt in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by $7.7 billion, or 2.5%.
The external debt of other sectors decreased by $2.5 billion or 1.4% from $171.8 billion to $169.3 billion in Q1, the previous estimate being $178.0 billion.
Central bank and banking sector debt fell $4.8 billion or 4.3% to $106.7 billion in Q1, the previous estimate being $107.8 billion.
Government debt decreased by $0.4 billion or 1.8% to $23.0 billion.
Russia's external debt grew $16.9 billion or 5.8% from $289.9 billion to $306.8 billion in 2025.
