Russia's Bashkortostan refineries boost output 10% amid peak fuel demand - republic authorities

UFA. June 30 (Interfax) - Bashkortostan's oil refineries have boosted output 10% year-on-year this summer owing to unprecedented demand for fuel, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Sheldyaev said.

"The situation is challenging. This is because our oil refineries, which are operating at a rate of approximately 10% higher than last year, operate on a national scale, meaning they operate not only in one republic but also to supply the entire country," Sheldyaev said on Tuesday on regional BST TV.

There are currently 410 filling stations, excluding natural gas stations, operating in the republic, including 290 stations operated by Bashneft , Lukoil-Uralnefteprodukt, Gazprom AZS Network, and Tatneft .

"We are currently maintaining a fuel reserve in remote areas for emergency services. This is a necessity. Rumors that we would only refuel government agencies and emergency services, and not private vehicles, are untrue," Sheldyaev emphasized.

As previously, fuel sales in Bashkortostan have jumped significantly since the beginning of June, namely as on June 4, with the figure having been at 2,626 tonnes per workday, and on June 25-26, it was 3,500 tonnes. Queues at 25 of the largest filling stations were recorded On June 28.
