Kazakhstan to impose six-month quota on beef exports

ASTANA. June 29 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan plans to restrict beef exports for six months, according to a draft agriculture ministry order posted in the open online legal database.

The proposed order will impose a 25,000-tonne quota on exports of fresh or chilled beef HS code 0201 and frozen beef HS code 0202 to third countries and the member states participating in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) for a six-month period, the draft document said.

The measure aims to secure raw materials for domestic meat processors, boost processing volumes, supply the local market and stabilize prices.

The draft order is open for public comment through July 1.
