China's TBEA to invest $65 mln to expand goldmining project in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE. June 26 (Interfax) - The lower house of Tajikistan's parliament has ratified an investment agreement between the government and China's TBEA Dushanbe Mining Industry (TBEA) Dushanbe Sanoati Kuhi LLC, which envisages constructing a new phase of a goldmining and processing complex in the Aininsky District of the Sughd Region.

The investment agreement was signed on June 4, 2026, envisaging over 600 million somoni, approximately $65 million, to expand the goldmining and processing plant.

The project is aimed at boosting gold ore production and processing volumes, as well as further developing the country's mining industry.

TBEA Dushanbe Sanoati Kuhi LLC, a subsidiary of China's TBEA, is developing the Kumargi Bolo and Duobai Sharqi deposits. The refinery was built in 2022. In 2025, the company commissioned the second phase of precious metals processing.

Kumargi Bolo's total reserves are 51 tonnes of gold, while Duobai Sharqi's are 23.7 tonnes. The cost of the Kumargi Bolo project was estimated at $180 million in 2022.
