Russia extends ban on industrial sulfur exports until end-2026
MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The Russian government has extended the ban on the export of industrial sulfur until December 31, 2026, the govt press office said.
The restriction applies to liquid, granulated and lumped sulfur exports.
A temporary ban was introduced on the export of certain types of sulfur on November 1, 2025 to stabilize domestic supplies of this raw material in order to maintain current fertilizer production volumes- sulfur is used to produce phosphate fertilizers
The restriction does not apply to exports to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as to Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Sulfur exports will also be permitted for the purposes of humanitarian assistance, international transit shipments, and to support the operations of Russian organizations on the Spitsbergen Archipelago.
Rosstat has said technical gas sulfur production in Russia fell 19% year-on-year to 1.75 million tonnes in January-May 2026.
