Russia-Belarus trade could reach $70 bln in 2026, almost 100% of payments in national currencies - Dep. PM Overchuk

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk discussed trade and economic cooperation with Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin at a meeting in Minsk.

"The main subject of the talks was current issues of the bilateral agenda, including the development of trade and economic cooperation and improvement of collaboration in the tax and customs spheres," a press release posted on the Russian Cabinet's website on Thursday said.

Turchin said bilateral trade "is growing at such rates that we will again report records to our presidents at the meeting of the Supreme State Council."

Overchuk, in turn, said Russian-Belarusian cooperation is developing successfully and that trade between the two countries could reach $70 billion in 2026, the press release said. He also said that 99.1% of mutual settlements are conducted in national currencies.

A Russian delegation is in Minsk for the 13th Regions of Russia and Belarus Forum.
