SIBUR begins commissioning logistics complex for future polypropylene production in Tobolsk
TYUMEN. June 23 (Interfax) - SIBUR has begun commissioning work on the logistics complex of the future DGP-2 polypropylene production facility at Zapsibneftekhim in Tobolsk, the city administration said on its MAX channel.
The launch of filling and packaging equipment, as well as the storage system, is currently underway.
"The project initially provided for the full automation of key logistics operations - product acceptance at the warehouse, sorting, palletizing, packaging, movement and issuance of finished products. Currently, the first filling line is being tested at the facility. The packaging lines provide for the automatic checking of products for metal inclusions and correct weight, stacking bags on pallets, pressing, shrink-wrapping and labeling," the director of logistics at Zapsibneftekhim, Roman Nikolenko, was quoted as saying.
It is noted that warehouse automation will optimize costs as well as production and logistics processes. The planned shipment of finished products will be up to 2,000 tonnes per day. The productivity of each of the two filling lines is 60 tonnes per hour with weighing accuracy of up to 12.5 grams.
The next stage of commissioning work will be the loading of software and a phased transition to automatic operation mode.
Currently, at the Propane Dehydrogenation-2 (DGP-2) project, active commissioning operations are also underway at the circulating water supply unit and the nitrogen-oxygen production facility, and flushing of process piping systems and equipment as well as the main compressor system is being carried out. Preparation for the adjustment of dynamic equipment has begun.
As reported, SIBUR began construction of a new complex at the Zapsibneftekhim plant in August 2023, the cost of which is estimated at approximately 195 billion rubles. The project involves the construction of a propane dehydrogenation unit with a capacity of 550,000 tonnes per year and a polypropylene production unit (570,000 tonnes per year) at Zapsibneftekhim, whose capacities already amount to 1 million tonnes for polypropylene. Construction and installation work is due to be completed by September 2026, and the launch of production is scheduled for 2027.
Zapsibneftekhim is a petrochemical complex of SIBUR in Tobolsk with a production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of base polymers per year.
