Armenian territorial administration minister, EU commissioner for enlargement discuss transport, energy programs

YEREVAN. June 22 (Interfax) - Armenian Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister Davit Khudatyan and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos discussed programs being implemented in the transport and energy sectors at a meeting in Brussels.

"At the meeting, Khudatyan praised the EU's consistent support for Armenia's reform and development agenda. The minister emphasized the importance of the new dynamics of the Armenia-EU partnership, including in the area of connectivity. Kos stated that the EU's support for Armenia will be long-term," the Armenian ministry said in a statement.

Khudatyan reiterated Armenia's readiness to "further deepen cooperation in the areas of transport, energy, and digital connectivity, as well as in implementing inclusive connectivity programs," it said.

"Programs being implemented in the transport and energy sectors were discussed," it said.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen had said earlier in June that the EU was prepared to support Armenia's infrastructure and border crossings as regional connections resumed. These priorities should be further promoted at a ministerial meeting of the parties to address transport accessibility on June 23, she said.

Von der Leyen had said at a first Armenia-EU summit in early May that the EU was determined to enhance cooperation with Armenia.

"We will support your integration into key transport networks like the Trans-Caspian corridor. It is a route that is also of strategic importance for Europe," von der Leyen said.
