Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan sign agreement on cooperation in energy sector

BAKU. June 22 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have signed a package of documents aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation, with the document exchange ceremony having occurred on Monday in Baku following talks between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow.

Specifically, the parties signed an agreement on energy cooperation; an industrial cooperation program for 2026-2028; a cooperation program between the foreign ministries of the two countries for 2026-2029; as well as an agreement on key areas in which to develop and bolster economic cooperation.

The respective parties signed 12 documents overall aimed particularly at expanding cooperation in the areas of customs, agro-industry, labor and social protection of the population, healthcare, and interaction between the two countries' central banks.
