LNG carrier Konstantin Posyet to operate under long-term contract with Arctic LNG 2 - Sovcomflot
MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The naming ceremony for the Arctic gas carrier Konstantin Posyet, the second vessel in a series of Arctic LNG carriers ordered by PJSC Sovcomflot at the Zvezda Shipyard, took place, Sovcomflot said.
"The vessel will operate under the Russian flag under a long-term time charter contract with Arctic LNG 2," Russia's largest shipping company said.
This is the second LNG tanker of the new generation of Arctic gas carriers. In December 2025, the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex delivered the Alexei Kosygin LNG carrier to PJSC Sovcomflot. It is the lead vessel in a series of Arc 7 ice-class Arctic gas carriers. These vessels can operate in Arctic conditions, independently breaking through ice thicker than two meters. Each LNG carrier holds over 172,000 cubic meters of LNG and is equipped with three rudder propellers, also manufactured at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex by the Sapphire plant. The vessel is 300 meters long, 48.8 meters wide, and has a deadweight of 81,000 tonnes. The LNG carrier's propulsion system produces 60 MW.
Sovcomflot specializes in the transportation of liquefied gas, oil and petroleum products, and is one of the world's largest tanker fleet operators. Sovcomflot's free float is 15.5% and the quasi-treasury stake is around 1.7%. Russia owns 82.8%.
