G7 leaders call for increasing sanctions on Russia, including in oil sector - media
PARIS. June 16 (Interfax) - The G7 leaders have agreed at a summit in France on the need to increase sanctions on Russia, the EFE news agency said on Tuesday, citing its sources.
"The leaders agreed it was necessary to increase pressure on Russia in order to aid in the negotiating process, through oil sanctions in particular," the report said.
The sources told EFE that the new sanctions could target Russian oil exports after the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz.
The G7 summit is taking place in Evian-les-Bains, France.
