Decree on payment conditions for Russian gas extended to Oct 1

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - The presidential decree on the conditions of payment for Russian gas has been extended for another quarter to October 1, 2026.

The new presidential decree, No. 427 dated June 15, 2026, was published on the official website for legal information on Monday.

The original decree "On the special procedure for foreign buyers' fulfillment of obligations to Russian natural gas suppliers" was issued on March 1, 2022 and initially allowed payment only through Gazprombank .

At the end of 2024, the phrase "authorized bank" in the decree, referring to GPB, was replaced with "Russian credit institution," meaning any Russian bank. Acceptance of payment this way was allowed for the period to the end of the first quarter of 2025, and then it was extended several times.

GPB said earlier that gas buyers had thus been granted a "deferral in order to obtain the necessary licenses or lift restrictions on working with the authorized bank - Gazprombank - in this period."
