Economic cooperation between Russia and Laos progressing fruitfully, particularly through Rosatom - Russian construction minister
MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - Economic cooperation between Russia and Laos is progressing rather fruitfully, with trade nearly doubling over the past year, according to Russian Construction, Housing and Utilities Minister Irek Faizullin, who chairs the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on the Russian side.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Monday met in Moscow with Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, who is currently in Russia on an official visit.
"Cooperation between Russia and Laos is very fruitful," Faizullin told reporters on the sidelines of the talks.
Faizullin recalled that cooperation is ongoing, including through Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation, and the agreement signed by the parties on Monday on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy should also yield results.
"It should be noted that trade has nearly doubled over the past year. Therefore, cooperation is very active, and work is underway through the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation," Faizullin said.
