Kazakhstan's GDP grows 3.7% in Jan-May

ASTANA. June 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's GDP grew 3.7% in the first five months of 2026, the government's press service said.

"According to the Ministry of National Economy, economic growth for the five-month period reached 3.7%," the press service said following a meeting on economic growth chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

Manufacturing output grew 9%, with machine building up 22.2%. More than 81,000 automobiles were produced in January-May.

The chemical industry rose 17.8%, and building materials production increased 18.7%. Agriculture grew 3.6%.

The prime minister stressed the need to step up investment projects, ensure the timely launch of new production facilities and make effective use of existing growth potential. Ministers have been instructed to take all necessary steps to achieve targeted growth rates, the statement said.

Kazakhstan's GDP grew 6.5% in 2025, 3% in the first quarter of 2026 and 3.6% in January-April. The prime minister has asked the government to ensure growth of more than 5% in 2026.
