Kazakhstan signs $10 bln in AI deals with Firebird, NVIDIA as part of Data Center Valley Project
ASTANA. June 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has signed a package of artificial intelligence agreements worth $10 billion with Firebird and NVIDIA, the government's press service said.
On Monday, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with NVIDIA Vice President Rev Lebaredian and Firebird co-founders - CEO Razmik Ovakimyan and Aleksandr Yesayan, according to the press service.
The discussions focused on developing national AI infrastructure, including high-performance computing capacity, modern data centers and attracting global technology partners.
Bektenov said AI and digital infrastructure development is a key priority for Kazakhstan.
"One of the key digital projects currently underway is the 'Data Center Valley' in the city of Ekibastuz. Our goal is to create a hub for global digital infrastructure. We highly value the agreements reached with our partners from Firebird and NVIDIA," the prime minister said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev said the Data Center Valley Project will become a key platform for the new AI token economy. The $10 billion investment will allow the creation of a massive computing cluster based on 100,000 next-generation GPU chips, including NVIDIA GB300 and Vera Rubin.
"We estimate the project will generate at least $3 billion in annual export revenue, create new jobs, attract global technology companies and strengthen Kazakhstan's position as a key digital hub in Eurasia," Madiyev said.
U.S.-based Firebird specializes in AI infrastructure, data center development and high-performance computing systems. The company operates projects across multiple regions and partners with leading technology firms, including NVIDIA, a global leader in AI, high-performance computing and digital infrastructure. NVIDIA's solutions are used in most of the world's top supercomputers and data centers and underpin a significant portion of today's generative AI models.
The Data Center Valley Project is being developed in Ekibastuz in the Pavlodar region. Plans call for building Central Asia's largest campus with an energy capacity of up to 1 gigawatt. Land plots totaling 1,400 hectares have been allocated for the project.
