Kazakhstan cuts shipments of oil via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline 16% in May

ASTANA. June 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's KazTransOil (KTO) national oil company shipped 125,000 tonnes of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in May 2026, KTO told Interfax.

"JSC KazTransOil shipped 125,000 tonnes of Kazakh oil through the Aktau seaport via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in May 2026, down 20,000 tonnes year-on-year," KTO said in response to Interfax's inquiry.

This represents a drop of 16% year-on-year.

As reported, KazTransOil shipped 125,000 tonnes of Kazakh oil through the Aktau seaport via the BTC pipeline in April, having also shipped 125,000 tonnes in March, 115,000 tonnes in February, and 106,000 tonnes in January.

Kazakh Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov had previously said that there were plans to ship 2.2 million tonnes of oil via the BTC pipeline in 2026, though he did not rule out that BTC exports could reach 2.5 million to 3 million tonnes this year.

Kazakhstan exported 1.2 million tonnes of oil via the BTC pipeline in 2025.
