Govt support for gardening in Russia exceeds 7 bln rubles in 2026 - Agriculture Ministry

MINERALNYE VODY. June 11 (Interfax) - Government support for horticulture and nursery production in Russia this year exceeds 7 billion rubles, Deputy Agriculture Minister Andrei Razin said on Thursday at the All-Russia Conference on Horticulture and Nursery Development that is part of the PRO Apple-2026 exhibition in Mineralnye Vody.

"We are increasing the amount of funding allocated for the establishment and maintenance of perennial plantings this year. The figure has already exceeded 7 billion rubles. Let us remember where we started. For example, this was 371 million rubles in 2014," Razin said.

Razin added that regions are also independently allocating funds to support the industry, and support is rather substantial in some regions.

"We are constantly adjusting our support measures. We have specifically increased the coefficient for nursery crops this year, and are introducing a differentiated approach when calculating subsidies for regional orchard establishments. We are currently working on a proposal from the Kabardino-Balkaria Republic to establish a separate coefficient and distinguish super-intensive crops over 3,500 units per hectare when calculating subsidies," Razin said.

Razin noted that other support processes remain in demand among farmers, namely preferential loans, preferential leasing, and partial reimbursement of costs to construct storage facilities and seed breeding centers.

"Of course, a major issue is support for irrigation systems, which is also an important component for a guaranteed harvest," Razin emphasized.
