Delegations from U.S., Germany, UK visited SPIEF 2026 - St. Petersburg governor
ST. PETERSBURG. June 8 (Interfax) - Delegations from 140 countries visited the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which took place last week, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said.
"More than 24,500 people from 142 countries took part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. More than 1,000 agreements were signed on the forum's sidelines. An official U.S. delegation came to the forum for the first time over the past decade," Beglov said in his weekly radio address on Monday.
European Parliament members and representatives of the Russian State Duma met on the sidelines of the forum, which was also attended by delegations from Germany, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, and other European countries, he said.
Drone attacks on June 3 and 6 tried to disrupt the forum's work, he said.
"Russian air defense repelled the air attack and protected the city's infrastructure from serious damage. The manmade consequences of the Nazi-style attacks have been eliminated," Beglov said.
Beglov thanked security agencies for the high state of their forces' readiness and for prompt interagency interaction.
