Eni subsidiary to build 100 MW wind farm in western Kazakhstan

ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - Plenitude Kazakhstan, which is a subsidiary of Italy's Eni S.p.A., is moving forward with a project to build a 100 MW wind farm in the Aktobe region, the regional administration said in a press release.

The company secured the right to build the wind farm following an auction organized by the Kazakh Energy Ministry in May of this year.

Once the facility is operational, annual power generation is expected to reach 400 GWh. Following a final investment decision, the project is scheduled for implementation from 2026 to 2028.

Plenitude Kazakhstan LLP is a subsidiary of Italian energy corporation Eni. The company specializes in renewable energy projects and decarbonization.

The Badamsha wind farm project, completed by Plenitude Kazakhstan and commissioned in 2019 in the Aktobe region, was Eni's first major investment in wind power and the company's first renewable energy project in Kazakhstan. The Italian corporation later built the Badamsha 2 wind farm, and in 2024, in collaboration with KazMunayGas, it started to build a 247 MW hybrid power plant in Zhanaozen, western Kazakhstan, which will run on solar, wind and gas energy. The solar power plant was commissioned as part of this project in the autumn of 2025.
