Gazprom CEO Miller discusses preparations for GECF summit in Moscow with GECF Secretary General

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - On the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, Secretary General Philip Mshelbila discussed preparations for the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Moscow with Gazprom CEO and management board chairman Alexei Miller.

"Alexei Miller and Philip Mshelbila paid special attention to preparations for the VIII GECF Summit, which will be held in Moscow on October 27 this year. They emphasized the importance of coordinating the efforts of Forum participants to further strengthen supply stability, create non-discriminatory gas markets, and expand the scope of gas application, including through refined products," Gazprom said.

The parties also discussed current trends in the global gas market.

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum is an international intergovernmental organization. The GECF Agreement entered into force on September 30, 2009. The following are full members of the GECF: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. Russia has been a full member of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) since 2009.

Since 2011, summits of the heads of state and government of the SPIEF's member countries have been convened every two years. The 7th summit, with the main theme "Natural Gas for a Secure and Sustainable Future," was held in Algeria in March 2024.
