Kazakhstan to ship 200 tonnes of flaxseed to China in first deal on digital grain platform
ASTANA. June 2 (Interfax) - The first transaction has been registered on the Kazakh-Chinese digital grain platform, with Kazakhstan's SN Trade Company LLP agreeing to supply a trial batch of 200 tonnes of flaxseed to China's Yihai (Changji) Oils & Grains Industries Co., Ltd, Kazakhstan's Food Contract Corporation said in a statement.
In the initial phase, the platform's product range is focused primarily on grains and oilseeds, including sunflower, rapeseed, flaxseed and soybeans. The list may expand later depending on importer demand and the export capabilities of domestic suppliers, according to the statement.
Kazakhstan and China agreed in May to establish a joint grain trading platform. The project is being implemented under the action plan of China and Central Asian countries within the Belt and Road Initiative.
