Problems with exporting from Armenia to Russia will be resolved after Armenian elections - Armenian econ minister
YEREVAN. June 1 (Interfax) - The problem with exports of a range of goods from Armenia to Russia will be resolved after the republic's parliamentary elections on June 7, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan said.
"The Armenian prime minister and the Russian president had a warm conversation today - all the issues will be resolved. These are technical matters, and I think that they will be resolved after June 7-8. I think that a quick solution will be found for all of these issues after the elections," Papoyan told journalists on Monday.
He also said that the ministry was implementing support programs for the export of Armenian goods to the EU.
"Exports to the EU have doubled, but we are aggressively inclined and aim to increase these exports 4 or 5 times," Papoyan said.
As reported, Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor introduced temporary restrictions on the import of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green crops and strawberries from Armenia starting from May 30, 2026, until the country develops a corresponding system to ensure the safety of its export produce.
Rosselkhoznadzor also said that Armenia must suspend certification of live fish and fish produce for export to Russia from June 2.
