Ukraine imposes sanctions on 2 Belarusian enterprises

MINSK. June 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Belarusian Oil Company and the Volat-Sanjiang Belarusian-Chinese joint venture, Ukrainian media said on Saturday.

"Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed two orders, endorsing the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council resolution on synchronizing sanctions with the decisions of the European Union," the media said.

In particular, the documents impose restrictions on Belarusian Oil Company PJSC and Volat-Sanjiang LLC.

Both companies were added to the EU sanctions list in April as part of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions. The EU explained listing of Belarusian Oil Company with its being the leading Belarusian oil exporter, controlled by the Belarusian government due to the ownership structure. As for Volat-Sanjiang, the EU defined the enterprise as part of the Belarusian defense sector, participating in the development, production and delivery of military hardware and equipment.

The sanctions include asset immobilization, suspension of licenses and trade agreements, a ban on the transfer of technologies and copyright, and other limitations. For individuals, the restrictions include asset immobilization, a ban on participating in businesses, public procurement, and a ban on travels to Ukraine.
