Armenia can integrate into EU only at its own expense - Kremlin spokesman
ASTANA. May 29 (Interfax) - Sooner or later, Armenia will reach a point when its integration into the European Union contravenes the norms and regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and it will have to solve this problem at its own expense, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"As Armenia gets closer to the EU, it will find itself in a position where the rules it adopts contravene the norms and regulations of the EAEU. The fact remains - it's impossible," Peskov said at a press briefing after the EAEU summit, where the Armenia situation was discussed.
"There is yet another question: while advancing on the path to the EU, which is a sovereign right of Armenia, it cannot and should not do so at the expense of the EAEU members' funds. It has to do this at its own expense," Peskov said.
"That's it. Actually, everything is clear, transparent, and straightforward. Nothing is left unsaid," Peskov said in response to a remark that the question of how Armenia could simultaneously integrate into the EAEU and the EU remained unanswered after the summit.
