Growth in electricity consumption in Russia since start of year amounts to 1% - System Operator
KALININGRAD. May 29 (Interfax) - Growth in electricity consumption growth in Russia since the beginning of the year amounts to 1%, the chairman of the System Operator's management board Fyodor Opadchy told Interfax.
As for the forecast for the entire year 2026, the System Operator will be ready to announce the figure in the fall, Opadchy said.
"Obviously, trends have changed a little now. We are looking at macro forecasts and will convert them into kilowatt-hours," he said.
The dynamics of electricity consumption growth in Russia have been consistently declining since the beginning of 2026. The figure was 2.1% in Q1, but by mid-April, the System Operator estimated growth since the beginning of the year at 1.5%.
Electricity consumption in Russia's unified energy system amounted to 1.161 trillion kWh in 2025, down 1.1% compared to the previous year's level.
