Pharmasyntez plans to launch supplies to Afghanistan
IRKUTSK. May 28 (Interfax) - Pharmasyntez Group plans to launch supplies of pharmaceuticals to Afghanistan this summer, the company's press service said.
Pharmasyntez has reached an agreement with the Afghan Health Ministry to begin supplying pharmaceuticals. The first shipments of products are planned to be sent to the Afghan market within the next two months, the company said.
Entering the Afghan market will mark a new stage in the development of its international operations. Possibilities for further expansion of cooperation and a gradual increase in supplies are being explored.
"We see high demand for Russian-made pharmaceutical products and view the start of deliveries to Afghanistan as [...] bolstering the presence of Pharmasyntez Group in the region," Nikita Punia, Vice President of Commerce at Pharmasyntez Group, said in the statement.
The groups of medicines planned for delivery have not been specified.
The press service clarified to Interfax that Pharmasyntez currently supplies medicines to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, the Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Pharmasyntez Group is a major Russian manufacturer of anti-tuberculosis, anti-cancer and antiretroviral medicines and hospital antibiotics. The product portfolio includes more than 300 drug items and over 80 pharmaceutical substance items. The company's production facilities are located in Irkutsk, Bratsk, Ussuriysk, St. Petersburg and Tyumen. Its annual output exceeds 100 million packages.
The company has facilities in Irkutsk, Bratsk, Ussuriysk, St. Petersburg, and Tyumen. The first production line of the Pharmasyntez-Medtech plant for medical equipment and dialysis products was launched in Kaluga in April this year.
