Russia's fish exports to Kazakhstan fall 10% in 2025, imports from country decline 13% - Fish Union

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - Russia exported 29,000 tonnes of fish and seafood to Kazakhstan in 2025, down 10% from the previous year, while imports of these products from Kazakhstan decreased 13% to 11,000 tonnes, the Fish Union said, based on an analysis of data from Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms.

At the same time, Russia's revenue from fish exports to Kazakhstan increased 11% to $88 million. The cost of imports decreased 22% to $17 million.

In particular, Russia exported 15,000 tonnes of frozen fish to Kazakhstan, down 10% compared to 2024. However, the value of supplies increased 17% to $30 million. Exports of canned fish declined 7% to 8,000 tonnes, but revenue from it increased 10% to $30 million. Shipments of fish fillet rose 9% to 2,000 tonnes and 18% to $7 million.

Supplies of frozen fish from Kazakhstan fell 6% to 8,000 tonnes, but their value grew 4% to $6 million. Imports of dried fish declined 14% to 1,000 tonnes and 11% to $3 million.

Russia also imported 900 tonnes of fish fillet, up 8% from a year earlier. Their value increased 4% to $1.2 million.
