Russia's revenue from agricultural exports currently exceeds 2025 level by almost 25% - Deputy PM Patrushev

MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - Russia's revenue from agricultural product exports currently exceeds the 2025 level by almost a quarter, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday

"Export revenue is almost a quarter higher than the level of the same period in 2025. In physical weight, the indicators are also growing, and quite noticeably," he said.

Russia cares about global food security, he said. "At the moment, the dynamics [of exports] are better than a year earlier," he said.

As reported, according to the Federal Customs Service (FCS), Russia again became a net exporter of agricultural products in January-March, increasing shipments almost 19% to $10.7 billion. Imports amounted to $10.3 billion, up 7%. The previous excess of exports over imports was recorded in January-February 2025. The growth rate of exports accelerated significantly in January-March, amounting to 5.7% in January-February. The growth rate of imports slowed, totaling 9.5% in January-February.

According to the FCS, exports of agricultural products amounted to $40.9 billion in 2025, down 4.1% from the figure for the previous year ($42.6 billion). Imports increased 15%, to $43.4 billion from $37.7 billion in 2024. The main export products of Russian agriculture are oils and fats, fish and seafood and grains and legumes.

Patrushev also noted that Russia is developing supplies of agricultural technologies. "This was practically non-existent before," he said. First and foremost, these are seeds and genetic and breeding materials. "We have many high-quality developments that are duly appreciated by buyers abroad. Just in the past year, exports of these items grew 40%. True, the base was low, but nevertheless, 40% growth is quite significant," he said.
