Russia ratifies EAEU-UAE economic partnership agreement
MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill ratifying an economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member states as the first party and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the second party.
The corresponding document was published on Russia's legal information website on Monday.
The agreement, signed in Minsk on June 27, 2025, sets the main rules for trade between the EAEU and the UAE in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization and envisions additional liberalization of trade with regard to more than 85% of the product range. Preferential access in accordance with the parties' tariff obligations covers more than 95% of Russia-UAE trade.
The EAEU and the UAE will continue to enhance their trade and economic cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as customs cooperation, e-commerce, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, intellectual property rights, and public procurement.
Under the agreement, the parties will develop their cooperation in different areas, including transport and logistics, competition, tourism, research and innovations, extraction, processing and use of mineral resources, trade in sustainable products, and steps to align standards for halal products.
