Srbijagas chief holds talks with Gazprom CEO for second time this month

MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - The head of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, has arrived in St. Petersburg for talks with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller for the second time this month.

The two discussed "cooperation in the gas sector" during the last meeting on May 14. This time they are discussing "interaction" between the companies.

Gazprom's contract with Serbia for the supply of Russian gas expires at the end of June.

In addition, Gazprom Group is currently negotiating the sale of a stake in the Serbian company NIS in favor of Hungary's MOL. In 2025, NIS, as a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, was included in the U.S. SDN List. The Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the time that the U.S. was demanding the complete withdrawal of Russian capital from NIS. However, earlier in May, Belgrade said that it was not satisfied with the refined offer from the Hungarian company. In particular, the Serbian side is dissatisfied with MOL's plans regarding the oil refinery in Pancevo.

U.S. Department of the Treasury through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has extended the license for negotiations on the sale of NIS several times. It is currently valid until May 22.
