Russian Digital Development Ministry, telecoms develop mechanism to operate ATMs, payment terminals without internet
MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Russia's Digital Development Ministry and telecom operators have developed mechanisms to keep ATMs and payment terminals operational without mobile internet, Central Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina said at the VIII Congress of the Association of Russian Banks.
"The Digital Development Ministry jointly with telecom operators have developed technical solutions that allow ATMs and payment terminals to operate when mobile internet is disconnected. I believe this will significantly solve the problem," Nabiullina said.
"Operators and banks are currently already testing this [...] and interested banks are also ready to work with them and the Digital Development Ministry and telecom operators to integrate the alternative mechanisms," she said.
