More than 20,000 Russian graduate and undergraduate students studying in Chinese universities

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - More than 20,000 graduate and undergraduate students from Russia are studying in Chinese universities, more than 56,000 students from China are studying according to Russian higher education programs, the press service for Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

"More than 20,000 Russian undergraduate and graduate students are studying in Chinese universities. Almost 5,000 citizens of Russia and other states are studying in the joint university of Lomonosov Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology," the press service said in a statement.

More than 56,000 Chinese students are studying in Russia on higher education programs. The number of students reaches almost 70,000 including additional programs and academic mobility, it said.

One thousand spaces have been provided for Chinese citizens' education under the Russian government's quota this year, the press service said.

Lomonosov Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology are implementing 59 education programs and specializations in Shenzhen, 16 scientific-educational units have been created, including a computational mathematics and cybernetics department, the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence, etc., the statement said.
