Russia not blocking GitHub, specialists record no problems with access, functionality of services - telecoms watchdog

MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax) - Specialists from the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) have recorded no problem with accessing and functionality of the resources of GitHub, the largest online platform for collaborative information technology (IT) project development, it is not being blocked in Russia, the agency's press service told journalists on Wednesday.

"In regard to recent reports, we inform that access to GitHub resources is not restricted. Specialists from the Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center conducted an inspection and recorded no problem with access and functionality of GitHub resources, API is operating without disruptions," the press service said.

"User registration and project creation are carried out normally," it said.

The Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center was created around Roskomnadzor's Main Radiofrequency Center under a law on the sovereign status of Russian Internet for the centralized management of the public communication network through anti-threat systems installed on operators' networks.
