Kazakhstan's Kashagan field produces 6.6 mln tonnes of oil year-to-date as on May 18 - NCOC

ASTANA. May 19 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Kashagan field had produced 6.6 million tonnes of oil year-to-date as on May 18, the press service of North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC), the field's operator, told Interfax.

"Year-to-date production as on May 18, 2026, totaled 52.6 million barrels, or 6.6 million tonnes," NCOC said in response to Interfax's inquiry.

Production at Kashagan totaled approximately 7.7 million tonnes of oil in the first five months of 2025.

Kashagan produced 18.2 million tonnes of oil in 2025.

Kashagan is considered one of the world's largest oilfields discovered in recent decades. The field's recoverable reserves range from 9 billion to 13 billion barrels of oil. Commercial production began at Kashagan in autumn 2016.

The shareholders of the NCOC consortium are KMG Kashagan B.V. (16.877%), Shell Kazakhstan Development B.V. (16.807%), Total EP Kazakhstan (16.807%), AgipCaspian Sea B.V. (16.807%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc. (16.807%), China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Kazakhstan B.V. (8.333%), and Inpex NorthCaspian Sea Ltd. (7.563%).
