Kazakhstan, Germany discuss oil supplies

ASTANA. May 15 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and Germany have discussed maintaining stable oil deliveries to Germany, the Kazakh Energy Ministry said after a meeting between Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov and German Ambassador Monika Iwersen.

"The sides discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation in the oil sector, including ensuring stable deliveries of Kazakh oil to Germany," the ministry said.

During the meeting, Akkenzhenov said energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany is systematic and spans multiple sectors.

Cooperation covers traditional energy, oil refining and renewable energy sources, the ministry said.

Following the talks, the sides confirmed their interest in further strengthening Kazakh-German energy cooperation, the ministry said.

Kazakhstan has been shipping oil to Germany since 2023 through the pipeline system of Russia's Transneft , using the Adamowo Zastawa transfer point. Russia suspended transit of Kazakh oil toward Germany via the Druzhba pipeline in May. Kazakhstan had planned to ship about 3 million tonnes of oil to Germany via Druzhba in 2026.

Kazakhstan delivered 2.1 million tonnes of oil to Germany, destined for the Schwedt refinery, in 2025 as a whole.
