Agricultural production in Belarus up 2.9% in Jan-April

MINSK. May 15 (Interfax) - Agricultural production in Belarus at farms of all categories increased 2.9% year-on-year in comparable prices in January-April 2026 and amounted to 7.6 billion Belarusian rubles, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.

Agricultural organizations produced 7.5 billion Belarusian rubles worth of products in 4M, up 3.2% compared to a year earlier.

A total of 609,600 tonnes of livestock and poultry in live weight were produced at farms of all categories, up 4.6%, along with 3 million tonnes of milk (+2.6%) and 1.15 billion eggs (-0.5%).

Agricultural organizations account for 97.5% of the country's production of livestock and poultry, 98.5% of milk and 92.2% of eggs.

As of May 1, agricultural organizations had 3.9 million head of cattle, including 1.3 million head of cows (1.4 million head as of April 1). The number of pigs was 2 million head, and the poultry population stood at 52 million head.

Agricultural production in Belarus grew 0.2% in 2025 after an increase of 3.4% in 2024. Growth was 1% in 2023 and amounted to 3.6% in 2022.

The official exchange rate on May 15 is 2.7697 Belarusian rubles/$1.
