Uzbekistan, Emirati company AMEA Power implementing energy projects worth more than $1.3 bln
TASHKENT. May 13 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan and AMEA Power (UAE), as part of the Energy Week event taking place in Tashkent, have launched the implementation of new large energy projects worth over $1.3 billion.
In particular, construction has begun on an energy storage system with a capacity of 150 MW (300 MWh) worth $86.1 million in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent, the Uzbek Energy Ministry's press service said.
The parties also plan to build an energy storage station with a capacity of 200 MW (800 MWh) in the Gijduvan district of the Bukhara region. The project is estimated at $200 million.
In the Kungrad district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, a project is being implemented to build a wind power plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW and a 40 km power transmission line. The total cost is $1.06 billion.
The implementation of these projects will help strengthen the country's energy infrastructure, expand the use of renewable energy sources and increase the reliability of the energy supply, the Energy Ministry said.
As reported, on May 12, the Uzbekistan Energy Week 2026 event began in Tashkent, which also includes the 28th Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan international exhibition. According to the organizers, more than 460 companies from 34 countries are taking part in the events.
