Trump on possible extension of license to buy Russian oil: We're going to do whatever is necessary

WASHINGTON. May 12 (Interfax) - U.S. President Donald Trump did not rule out another extension of the license to buy Russian oil to contain the growth of oil prices.

"We're going to do whatever is necessary," Trump told the media in Washington on Tuesday in response to a question whether such an extension was possible for the sake of reducing prices.

Trump added that the U.S.-Iranian conflict would end soon and oil prices would decrease significantly.

Trump also said that a settlement to the conflict in Ukraine is getting very close.

"The end of the war in Ukraine I really think it's getting very close," Trump told reporters.

Asked whether he might visit Russia this year, Trump said he "will do whatever necessary" to end the Ukraine conflict.

However, Trump said that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have no common understanding regarding the entire Donbass territory joining Russia.

"No," he said in reply to a journalist's question on the matter.
